Prior to his 15 years' experience as an interpreter on the Hill and in the private sector in Canada, Jean-Pierre Dany was a pilot in the French Air Force. He has broad experience as an interpreter, translator and company administrator. He served as a Section Head with the Translation Bureau and subsequently became the owner of a translation agency and a consulting firm in audiovisual communications. JeanPierre studied Mathematics and Physics at the Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers in Paris before becoming a military pilot.

Jean-Pierre immigrated to Canada in 1976 and soon established a solid reputation in translation, revision and management. He started his own translation firm and then another communications business in script and speechwriting as well as audio-visual services. His firm offered services to several ministers of the government of the day. He then acquired a Masters in Conference Interpretation from the University of Ottawa. Jean-Pierre is a certified member of the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO). He served several times on the ATIO board of directors and also served from 2004 to 2006 as chairman of the Certification Examination Board of the Canadian Translators, Terminologists, and Interpreters Council (CTTIC).

Jean-Pierre founded Translation Conference Interpreters Inc. in the fall of 2010, using his decades of managerial experience and a network of industry contacts to assemble a team of among the most experienced professionals working in the field of translation and interpretation.

In 2008, Jean-Pierre saw how technology could radically raise the efficiency of translation-service management. Finding no such software on the market, he began drawing up an intellectual design of what would be required. It proved to be an unexpectedly complex exercise, but in 2010 he found a software designer/engineer who translated Jean-Pierre’s vision into the TCI Online Management System.

He currently sits on the Industry Representatives Advisory Panel of PWGSC and the Translation Bureau where he helps deal with translation and interpretation issues.
